SCARR Overview

SCARR is an organized, family off-road event for Land Rover enthusiasts. The annual event attracts people from around the country to experience the off-road capabilities of their Rovers. There are guided trail runs for beginners, intermediate levels, and for anybody not familiar with the trails. As we celebrate our 21st event, we have once again reserved the entire Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area park for Rovers only. SCARR is an exciting event for any Rover enthusiast!

Activities abound including the ladies-only Barbara Toy Tribute Run, lectures, off-road training, and kid’s activities such as a movie night with root beer floats. Each year, attendees forge life long memories with friends and families. We look forward to seeing you at SCARR!

SCARR  T-shirts can be purchased for $20 at the time of registration.

You must order and pre-pay for your shirt as additional shirts will not be

offered for sale at the event.

SCARR Fees and Registration

Registration dates are the following:

  • Regular Registration: January 19 to March 2

  • Late Registration:  March 3 to March 16 (NO event bag and no guarantee for a shirt.)

 

Registration fees are the following:

  • Regular Registration

    • Members: $180.00

    • Non-Members: $230.00

  • Late Registration

    • Members: $200.00

    • Non-Members:  $250.00

  • Passenger Fee (12 and over):  $60.00 (under 12 no fee)

 

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

  • A full refund will be given during the regular registration period - through March 2

  • A 50% refund will be given during the late registration period – through March 16

  • No refund is given after late registration closes – March 16

SCARR Event Location Details

 

Texas Rovers will be hosting SCARR at Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area

in Gilmer, Texas - a beautiful 1,850-acre premier off-road park. BMRA offers primitive

and electric camping sites as well as shower and bathroom facilities

located near the front of the park. Attendees should also familiarize

themselves with the park's regulations: Barnwell Mountains Safety

Directions:

From Gilmer, TX, turn east onto State Highway 155 North (this is a stoplight). Go approximately 5 miles; as you start to climb a hill, look for a green sign on the left that points to the right reading "Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area". Be sure to watch for the turnoff because it is at the crest of the hill. You will miss it if you are not paying attention. This sign is directly across the highway from the entrance. Turn right, check-in at the gate, and proceed up the hill to the office where you will finish the check-in process.

 

 

 

SCARR Lodging

 

Camping

Camp Mabey is the main campsite for SCARR. Follow the signs back to the camp - it’s
about a 10-minute drive. Old Camp will be another established campsite
where the Fun Zone will reside for the wee
k. There are several other areas
and campsites scattered around the park that attendees are welcome to take
advantage of. Whatever campsite you choose to use, please be respectful and
make sure to leave it cleaner than you found it.

 

RV Accommodations

RV’s are welcome at SCARR. There are Premium Sites (water and electric) and additional (electric only) spots located across from the Premium Sites. A dump station is available for anyone to use at no charge. RV sites can be reserved on the Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area website at www.bmra.com

The city of Gilmer has 2 hotels which are an estimated 15 minutes from the park.

Established in July of 1995 and later re-organized in April 2000, for 29 years Texas Rovers has been the go-to Club for Land Rover owners in Texas. Echoing the recent corporate changes we welcome new Range Rover, Discovery 5 and new Defender owners into our ranks. With Chapters in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio we have the Lone Star State covered. We are made up singles, couples, and families all with two things in common, a love of our vehicles and the great American outdoors.
